India and China are among the worlds two fastest growing source markets for international tourism, which is home to most lavish tourists on most overseas destinations. As part of deepening bilateral ties, India and China had organised 2016 as India Year in China and in 2017 as China Year in India. Although the year 2018 had started on a slight different note, but post the recent visit of Prime Minister Modi- it seems the two countries are keen on growing and deepening bilateral ties.
Noticeably, during the Prime Minister’s recent visit to China, it has been agreed to increase the co-operation between India and China in Defence, External Affairs and Tourism. With Indian Tourism Minister attending the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) Tourism Ministers’ conference in China immediately after Prime Minister Narendra, its likely that the two countries are keen to fast paced the growth in tourism.
The Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Tourism and Minister of State for Electronics and Information Technology, K. J. Alphons attended the Tourism Ministers’ conference by Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) in Wuhan, China held on 9th May 2018. At the inaugural session, the Minister said that India’s Tourism sector is fast growing and has got an emerging market for outbound travel and a tremendous potential for tourism co-operation with the SCO region.
At the sidelines of the event, the Minister also met the Chinese Tourism and Culture Vice Minister, Li Jinzao.
